June 2, 2015—Christine Melancon, the principal at Francone Elementary School, was named the new principal at Gleason Elementary School on June 2. Melancon replaces Melody Goffney, who accepted the position of senior education specialist at the Region 4 Education Service Center.

She then spent two years as the instructional specialist at Reed Elementary School before being promoted to an assistant principal position at Reed. Melancon spent two years in that capacity before serving one year as an assistant principal at Rennell Elementary School.
After serving as the summer school principal at Duryea Elementary School in 2011, Melancon accepted CFISD’s elementary math coordinator position for 2011-2012. She was named Francone’s principal in May 2012.
Melancon received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and her Master of Education and principal certification from Sam Houston State University.
“It is an honor to have been selected as the next principal of Gleason Elementary,” Melancon said. “I am excited to begin working with the staff, students, parents and community as we will build on the great traditions that have been established. Together, we will continue to provide a quality education for all students. I am thrilled to become a Gleason Tiger!”
